About Beard Insights
My Experience
Before founding Beard Insights, I spent over 25 years in health economics and consulting - leading teams, shaping strategy, and mentoring talented people across growing businesses.
I began my career at the University of Sheffield’s ScHARR in the late ’90s, before moving into senior roles across global and boutique consultancies. I’ve worked in both technical and leadership roles, heading up health economics, market access, and multidisciplinary teams, often during periods of intense growth and change.
At RTI Health Solutions, I helped expand and lead the European business, introducing systems and structures to support a growing global team. At BresMed (later Lumanity), I was part of the leadership team that scaled the company to over 180 people - driving both practice development and commercial growth. Most recently, at MAP Patient Access, I served as Chief Consulting Officer, reshaping the team structure to focus on close-knit leadership, mentorship, and delivery excellence.
Whether leading bids, mentoring senior consultants, or setting up new delivery models, my focus has always been on building capability - creating the conditions for people and businesses to thrive.
Why I Started Beard Insights
Throughout my career, I’ve seen how often technically brilliant people struggle with the people side of consulting - the non-technical, human relationship stuff like:
Leading a team while still doing delivery
Having tough client conversations
Managing workload and boundaries
Building confidence in a senior role
Delegating and mentoring effectively
Too often, support for adapting to these challenges is patchy or generic.
I started Beard Insights to offer individuals and teams something better: smart, structured, and personal support that builds long-term capability and confidence - not just a quick fix.
Why the Puffin
The puffin in my company logo is a quiet nod to adaptability, resilience, and a strong sense of place.
Resilient and adaptable, thriving in unpredictable and challenging situations
Distinctive, but quietly brilliant - just like many of the people I work with!
Agile and connected, spending part of their lives in close-knit colonies and part flying solo across oceans
Puffins are seen to thrive in what can often seem the toughest of environments, and will do so in their own way.
It felt like the right visual fit for a business that’s all about empowering people to lead with authenticity and focus.
That blend of independence and connection, strength and softness, really speaks to the kind of growth I aim to support in others.
A Bit About Me
I live on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey in North Wales, where the sea is never far away. It’s a place that gives me space to think, breathe, and re-charge - especially on long walks with my Springer Spaniel, Milo.
I’m a proud dad to two grown-up daughters, and when I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors, watching Liverpool FC, playing hockey, or slowly improving my Welsh language skills.
Life has brought its fair share of change, challenge, and renewal - all of which shape the way I show up in my work: with warmth, honesty, and a sense of humour.
